Sources

9 data sources feed the atlas. Every value on the site names the one it came from.

How sources are combined: each indicator lists its sources in priority order (1 = preferred). For each country the whole series is taken from the highest-priority source that has any non-forecast value for it — so a country never mixes two sources within one series. If a lower-priority source is more than three years fresher, the fresher source wins instead. Values from the non-chosen sources are kept as alternatives, never merged or discarded; forecasts (IMF projections) are flagged and never enter latest values or rankings.
