Sources & provenance
Every value on this page comes from one of these series, chosen per country by priority.
- Priority #1Open at source206 countries · 11,871 obs. · → 2023 · CC BY 4.0
Arable land includes land defined by the FAO as land under temporary crops (double-cropped areas are counted once), temporary meadows for mowing or for pasture, land under market or kitchen gardens, and land temporarily fallow. Land abandoned as a result of shifting cultivation is excluded. Source: FAO electronic files and website, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), publisher: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
Series-level selection: for each country the whole series comes from the highest-priority source that has any non-forecast value for it. If a lower-priority source is more than three years fresher, the freshest source wins instead. Non-chosen values are kept as alternatives, never discarded.
Countries without data
12 of 218 countries have no value for 2023.
- Taiwan
- Kosovo
- Macao
- Channel Islands
- Curaçao
- Greenland
- Sint Maarten
- Gibraltar
- Monaco
- Saint Martin
- Nauru
- Tuvalu
Typical reasons: the source does not survey small territories or micro-states; the statistical office reports with a lag of one to three years; the series is only compiled for member countries of the source organisation (OECD, EU, Eurostat); or a value exists but failed validation and is quarantined rather than shown.
